I zipped down my sweater which revealed my maroon Abercrombie t-shirt. I squirmed in my seat, trying to find a comfortable position. When I did, I opened up the pages of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone to where my bookmark was. My eyes scanned the page to where I left off.
“‘He is with me wherever I go,’ said Quirrell quietly. ‘I met him when I traveled around the world. A foolish young man I was then, full of ridiculous ideas about good and evil. Lord Voldemort showed me how wrong I was. There is no good and evil, there is only power, and those too weak to seek it…”
My eyes were glued to the page. I closed my mouth, swallowed, put my finger where page 211 was and closed the book.
I looked up and stared at the subway map. “You understand right? Don’t worry, nothing’s going to change”. Her voice played over and over again in my head like a broken record player, wishing it would go back to playing its sweet melody, instead of this glitch that wouldn’t be better until late, or perhaps even never. The image of her walking around me, looking me up and down while laughing, hurt me more than she would every know. This played again and again, not just in my mind, but in reality as well. Here she was, strutting down the halls with waht seemed to be the evil thing she had gotter attached to. I was just hoping that she would realize soon enough before they fully took over her. I popped my book open once more and continued reading, hoping to get my mind off things.
